(ATLANTA, Aug. 29, 2023) – Delta for Women in Action released their statement today in response to the shooting of three innocent Black citizens in Jacksonville, Fla. on Saturday, Aug. 26.:
“Saturday’s racially motivated killing of three innocent Black Jacksonville citizens is another reminder of the racism that has permeated Florida and the nation. Delta for Women in Action (D4) stands united in our commitment to fostering a society built on justice, equity, and respect for all. We must address the profoundly concerning issues of gun violence and racism plaguing our nation, particularly the black community.
Furthermore, D4 unequivocally condemns the systemic racism that has persisted in America for too long. With hateful rhetoric and the passing of laws that seek to eradicate Black history, cultural understanding, and programs that address inequality, Florida and other states have targeted the Black community. We believe that hate has no place in our society. We stand firmly against all forms of hatred, discrimination, and bigotry and call on our fellow Americans to actively promote love, empathy, and understanding among all communities. D4 continues to actively support candidates and policies that will eliminate senseless gun violence and protect and strengthen the Black community.”
