WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court, eliminating the reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy that communities of color have depended upon for the last five decades.

This action is a massive blow to abortion rights, family rights, and, most importantly, women’s rights. For Black and Brown women, restrictive abortion laws before Roe v. Wade yielded limited access to quality health care, a lack of choices for contraception, and ineffective or inadequate sex education. The Supreme Court’s actions have turned back the hands of time; women will now be forced once again to find reproductive health services in unsterile “back rooms”, leading to unnecessary death.

We will remain vigilant in protecting our human and civil rights now and into the future. It should be a woman’s decision, period! In November, abortion rights, voting rights and overall human rights will be on the ballot. In every state, we must act by using our vote as our voice. Join Delta4 Women in Action in only supporting federal and state lawmakers who are dedicated to codifying and supporting access to abortion rights.
